     Water Purification

Water treatment is the most common application and the largest market for ion exchange resins. The major application of the ion exchange in the food and beverages industry is the preparation of drinking water. In addition to that there is a number of industry specific applications such as decolorisation and colour stabilisation of sugar, honey and sweeteners, removing traces of pesticides, heavy metals and other harmfull compounds, demineralisation of citric and lactic acids and other food additives, control of food and drinks acidity, refining of milk products, separation of organic compiunds. Ion exchange resins and polymeric adsorbents are widely used in traditional pharmaceutical industry as well as Chinese herbal medicine. Some industry specific applications include extraction, separation and purification of vitamins, antibiotics, streptomycin, penicillin, enzymes, hormones; removal of saponins, glycosides, flavonoids, alkaloids, phenols, clindamycin phosphate ester, anthraquinone, cephalosporins and others; decoloration of pigments and amino acids; removal of water- and alcohol-soluble pigments and impurities.
